Author Sammy Travis is a graphic designer and Pinterest marketer who uses Pinterest to grow her blog traffic with almost 200k monthly views on Pinterest.

In this blog post, we will discuss 7 ways that you can use Pinterest to market your blog. We’ll cover pinning your freebies, pinning your blogs, pinning your videos, using Pinterest groups, and using Pinterest ads.

So whether you are just starting out with Pinterest or you have been using it for a while, these tips will help you grow your blog traffic!

Pin Your Blogs

One of the best ways to use Pinterest to market your blog is by pinning your blog posts.

When you pin a blog post, be sure to include a catchy headline, a description of what the post is about, and a beautiful image.

You can also include a call-to-action in your description, such as “Click here to read the full post.”

If you have multiple images in your blog post, be sure to include them all in your Pinterest pin so that people can get a preview of what they will find if they click through to your blog.

You can also use Canva to create pin images for each blog post.

Here is a great blog post about how to use Pinterest templates to create pins for your blogs.

Share Your Tips

You can create pins that highlight the tips in your blog post. This is a great way to share a tidbit of information from the post to entice a viewer to click through to your blog.

Sharing helpful tips can also lead to more pin saves. Creating great pin images is one of the easiest ways to get repins which in turn gets your pins more views.

Pin Your Freebies

If you offer freebies on your blog, be sure to promote them on Pinterest!

People love freebies, and if they see that you have something valuable to offer for free, they are more likely to click through to your blog.

Here are some great examples of freebies you can offer on your blog:

– eBooks

– checklists

– cheat sheets

– printables

– templates

– courses

When creating pins for your freebies, be sure to include an image of the freebie, the title of the freebie, and a description of what the freebie is.

Adding a clear image and description of what someone will get when they download your freebie is a great way to increase your click rate. People want to see what they can download from you!

You can also include a call-to-action in your description, such as “Click here to download the freebie” or any other type of call-to-action that prompts people to download it.

Pin Your Lead Magnets

Lead magnets and freebies are interchangeable terms. A lead magnet is a freebie that you offer in exchange for someone’s email address.

Lead magnets can be helpful in growing your email list and marketing your blog to new readers.

When creating pins for your lead magnets, I suggest creating a pin that you would want to click on.

Make sure your pins don’t sound too salesy (yes, it’s a word!), or else people might not click through and sign up if the pin sounds like clickbait.

The best way to pin to your freebies and lead magnets is to create your pins from the mindset of wanting to help people with your freebie, not just to capture their email addresses.

People go to Pinterest for inspiration and to solve problems, so the best thing to do is help them solve their problems with your freebie!

Using Group Boards

If you are looking for ways to reach a larger audience on Pinterest, consider using group boards.

Group boards are boards where multiple people can contribute pins. When you contribute to a group board, your pins will be seen by all of the members of that board and their followers, which can help you reach a larger audience.

To find group boards to join, you can search Pinterest for terms that you blog about. You can tell the difference between regular boards and group boards by how many profile images are attached to the board. Group boards will have multiple profile images on the board.

You can also ask other bloggers if they know of any group boards that you could join. Oftentimes, bloggers will already have group boards that could be a great fit for you.

You can find other bloggers on social media and in Facebook groups – (See Karen’s top 10 Facebook Groups for Bloggers here.)

When contributing to a group board, be sure to only add pins that are relevant to the board and its audience. If you spam a group board with irrelevant pins, you will likely be removed from the group.

Using Pinterest Ads

If you are looking for a more direct way to market your blog on Pinterest, you can use Pinterest ads.

Pinterest ads are a form of paid advertising, and they allow you to specifically target people who may be interested in your blog.

Pinterest ads can be a great way to reach a larger audience and can be very effective in driving traffic to your blog.

However, Pinterest ads can also be expensive, so you will want to make sure that you are targeting the right people with your ads.

I have used Pinterest ads and found great success, but it is definitely something that you want to ensure you are using correctly if you are going to spend your marketing budget on them.

Post Video Pins

Another great way to use Pinterest to market your blog is by creating video pins. Video pins are a great way to grab people’s attention and get them interested in your blog.

You can create video pins by taking videos of yourself or by creating video designs in Canva.

Both of these techniques are helpful for creating video pins on Pinterest.

Pinterest is pushing video content, similarly to all other social media channels lately, so by pinning video content you are giving the Pinterest algorithm what it wants.

Here is a great post that gives an in-depth overview of the different types of video pins you can post on Pinterest.

Pinning Consistently

One of the best ways to market your blog on Pinterest is by pinning consistently. When you pin consistently, you are much more likely to be seen by Pinterest users, and you are much more likely to get traffic to your blog.

One of the best ways to ensure that you are pinning consistently is by using a Pinterest scheduler like Tailwind. Pinterest schedulers allow you to schedule your pins in advance, so you don’t have to worry about manually pinning every day.

Don’t Do It Alone

If all of this Pinterest marketing information is very overwhelming to you, remember you don’t have to do this alone.

There are many ways you can get help with your Pinterest marketing including hiring a Pinterest Manager like myself, or Karen.

Hiring a Pinterest manager is incredibly helpful so you can spend your time creating more content for your blog instead of creating pins for your Pinterest profile!

Working with a Pinterest manager will also ensure that you are using a successful marketing strategy on Pinterest.
